Hard trance goes back to the original elements of german techno, which is where trance evolved. The style is rougher and less melodical than most other trance tracks. Often hard trance artists play on producing noisy tracks with a great stress on repeating synth work and samples, while maintaining that driving bass line that so well works with techno. The use of rolling beats in the release of the melody is often engaged as a technique.
