Learning to DJ (w/ the 3345 Team)

Equipment : overview

Before we get started, we will firstly take a quick trip through the technical necessities and the equipment you will need. Great equipment alone won’t make you a great DJ, but it will give you a much better chance.

If you haven’t already bought your equipment than this section will be very useful indeed, but if you have bought all the equipment, it is still good to read for next time.

Lets start with the basic setup.

What you need:

  • 1X Mixer
  • 2X Turntables (including cartridges and slipmats)
  • 2X CD Players (if you want to mix CDs as well)
  • 1X Headphones

In addition to these basic components you will also need quite a bit of wiring, an amplifier and a decent pair of speakers. You may also choose to get a tape recorder or other form of recording device to record your mixes. Listening to your mixes is the best way of identifying errors and is usually very rewarding.
